PEFC was established in 1999 in the form of an international umbrella organization that provides recognition of independent assessment, turnover and national forest certification systems, in response to the special needs of small and family forest owners. The purpose of its establishment also responded to the needs as a mechanism for the independent progress of national standards according to the political, social, economic, environmental and cultural realities of the countries tasked with ensuring internationally accepted conditions and compliance with the global disclosure.

The forest certification approval program (PEFC) is a program that supports sustainable forest management through neutral third-party forest certification. PEFC is a system that guarantees that all processes such as the Coc-Forest protection and custody chain, processing, conversion, production from raw forest to the consumer come true.
